Legislative Assembly approved in the second debate a proposal to transfer holidays to Mondays from 2020 to 2024.

The Legislative Assembly has approved, in the second debate, the draft of Law 21.941, which seeks to promote the revival of tourism suspended by the COVID-19 national emergency.

The text of the law provides for the enjoyment of certain legal holidays as follows:

  • The holidays normally scheduled for July 25 and August 15, 2020, will be transferred to the immediately following Monday;
  • Holidays scheduled for September 15 and December 1, 2020, will move to the immediately preceding Monday;
  • The holidays of May 1 and July 25, 2021, will be transferred to the following Monday;
  • The holidays of September 15 and December 1, 2021, will move to the preceding Monday;
  • The celebrations of September 15 and December 1, 2022, will be transferred to the following Monday.
  • The holidays of April 11, July 25, and August 15, 2023, will move to the preceding Monday.
  • The festivities of April 11, July 25, and August 15, 2024, will be postponed until the following Monday.

The proposed legislation will become law and enter into force once it is duly published in the official newspaper La Gaceta.
