
Andrea is a BLP Senior Associate in San Jose. With more than a decade of legal experience, she specializes in the practice areas of Public Law, Public Procurement & Regulation, and Privacy & Data Protection.
In the practice of Public Law, Public Procurement & Regulation, she has advised clients in government matters, public tenders, and public contracts and policies. She is especially involved in current issues that entail making important changes in the regulations governing certain sectors, such as the operation of Uber within the country.
In Privacy & Data Protection, she has extensive experience in the development and review of company data protection policies in compliance with the relevant regulations and advises on the registration of databases with the Agency for the Protection of Inhabitants’ Data. Likewise, she has represented a variety of clients in complaint procedures before the data protection agencies of Costa Rica and sought remedies (amparos) before the Constitutional Chamber on the subject of informational self-determination.
She joined the BLP team as an associate in 2011 after being a legal assistant and associate at Lex Counsel for 7 years, and a legal assistant at Costa Rica’s Ministry of Environment and Energy.
