Elia is a Director of BLP. She specializes in the practice of Business Law with emphasis in M&A. She also has experience in the practice areas of Competition & Antitrust and Dispute Resolution, including commercial litigation and arbitration.

With more than 8 years of experience, she has advised national and international clients in mergers and acquisitions, due diligence processes, restructurings, corporate governance, the negotiation and execution of contracts, and in day-to-day legal issues of commercial nature, including the establishment of operations of multiple companies in Costa Rica. Elia has been involved in multijurisdictional transactions in a wide range of industries including telecommunications, technology,  transportation, manufacturing, retail, education, and hospitality.

Furthermore, she has advised companies on the implementation of competition policies in Central America, as well as in administrative processes before the Costa Rican Competition Authority. In addition, she has counseled clients in local and international arbitration proceedings at the ICDR, the Costa Rican Chamber of Commerce (CCA), and the International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration (CICA) . 

Elia began her career in 2008 as a Legal Assistant at the firm Nassar Abogados. While in law school, she was a member of the ELSA (now John H. Jackson) Moot Court Competition on World Trade Organization Law team, reaching the finals in 2012.  In 2017, she completed an internship as a Business Development Analyst at the Italian fintech startup FinDynamic, where she gained experience in financial and market analysis, and business strategy. With a strong training in international law, she is currently an Editorial Board Member of the Costa Rican Journal of International Law and acts regularly as a judge of the Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition Eduardo Jiménez de Aréchaga (CEJA).

Elia joined the BLP team as an Associate in 2018 and was appointed Director in 2021.
