On June 22, 2022, the President of the Republic of Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chaves, and the Minister of Health, Jocelyn Chacón, signed an executive decree that enables the rapid registration of medicine in Costa Rica.

This decree reduces the sanitary registration of medicine approval period from 8 months to 30 days. Likewise, this decree permits access to innovative medicinal products approved by Regulatory Authorities that are members of the International Council for Harmonization (ICH), including the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The procedure must use the Regístrelo platform of the Ministry of Health, which provides the documents required by the authority to proceed with the corresponding approval.
